Malaysia - Langkawi

Post by K.Haroon » Thu Oct 11, 2018 4:44 pm

Went diving here once in July 2008. Langkawi is an archipelago of 99 islands in the Andaman Sea, some 30 km off the mainland coast of northwestern Malaysia. The main island spans about 25 km from north to south and slightly more for east and west. The coastal areas consist of flat, alluvial plains punctuated with limestone ridges. Two-thirds of the island is dominated by forest-covered mountains, hills and natural vegetation. The most popular dive sites are located at Pulau Payar Marine Park which is a cluster of islands and water area located 30 km south of Langkawi. You find a large number of fish & marine life species, different types of hard and soft colorful corals, and many dive sites close to each other. Scuba diving is frequently offered during tours to Pulau Payar so once you book a trip to the island, the operators will approach you on the ferry to see if you’re interested in scuba diving.
