First time skied here in Feb 2013. The Pyrenees are a mountain range in south-western Europe. They extend lengthwise along an east-west for a distance of approximately 430 km from the Mediterranean Sea to the Bay of Biscay (North Atlantic). Culminating at 3404 meters altitude Aneto, the Pyrenees form a barrier separating the geographical Iberian Peninsula south of the rest of continental Europe to the north. They form a natural border between Spain and France and also home to the Principality of Andorra. Baqueira Beret is a ski resort in the Pyrenees, in the county of Val d'Aran (Lleida province , autonomous community of Catalonia). It lies between altitudes of 1500 meters to 2510 meters Cape Baqueira. The site offers wide and open, as well as forests. It is divided into three different zones, Baqueira, Beret and Bonaigua. The resort of Baqueira Beret, by its orientation towards the Atlantic, has a good snow year round, with thick layers of snow, making it an ideal place for skiing. In addition it has an altitude of over 1000 meters and an extensive ski area. All this makes it one of the best ski resorts in Catalonia. Other good option in Spain is Formigal and between Spain and France is Andorra both of which are on my bucket list.
