First time skied here in Jan 2012. Huaibei ski resort is located in JiuGukou Natural scenic spots. It’s in the north of Huairou District, 5 kilometers away from YanXi lake. It is surrounded by YanShan mountains, rivers and by the old Great wall from Ming Dynasty. Jiabianlou Great wall is a miracle of architectural history. There are nine valleys linked together among these mountains. You can also find karst peak forest and strange rocks among the Yanshan mountains, famous for its unique landscape, steep terrain and towering peaks. The ski resort covers an area of 9.6 square kilometers. The overall length of trail is 4600 meters, with a drop of 238 meters. The air is dry and cold. Snow is made of surface water. Water temperature is maintained at 0 to 4 deg C. The unique “cold-lake effect” provides an environment to make snow from mid November every year. The newly made snow is in powder form which is highly praised by the skiers. Huaibei ski resort is also an outdoor sporting base and campsite in Beijing area. Apart from skiing, it also has activities like ice-climbing, rock climbing, field survival training and Great wall hiking etc. Check this link for other: Ski Resorts in China, not really on my bucket list but would certainly like to try them if I visit China again.
