Gulf of Thailand - West

Post by K.Haroon » Wed Oct 10, 2018 7:45 am

Koh Tao and Samui are the famous sites on the western side of Gulf of Thailand. Koh Tao does not have an airport. The closest is on the neighbouring island of Koh Samui. From there you can hop on a ferry to Koh Tao. First time went diving to Koh Samui in July 2017. Due to time constraints was not able to dive in Koh Tao so it is still on my bucket list. While you can be lucky at any time of the year, there are more sightings of whale sharks in April and May. The reefs inhabitants include many colorful reef fish, some interesting macro critters and nudibranch, morays and bluespotted ribbontailed rays. Turtles, triggerfish and barracuda's are also seen. I am unable to recall which dive center I shortlisted for my dive in Koh Samui but in Koh Tao I think I am going to go for Sairee Cottage Diving, considering their courteous and professional correspondence with me on various issues.
